Maundy Thursday invites us into worship, reflection, and watchful prayer.

The 7:30pm service includes the Holy Eucharist, the Washing of the Feet, and the Stripping of the Altar. This service will be live-streamed for those unable to be physically present.

From 9:30 PM to midnight, the Cathedral offers two complementary experiences:

  • In the Great Choir and Crossing, a contemplative reading of Dante’s Inferno unfolds — a rich and meditative encounter with one of the great spiritual texts.
  • In Communications Bay, the Altar of Repose — using the Nakashima Altar for Peace — becomes the center of a silent vigil. The Peace Altar, crafted by master woodworker George Nakashima as a symbol of reconciliation and unity, holds the reserved sacrament and invites prayerful presence in quiet stillness.

Following the service and reading of Dante's Inferno, there will be an Overnight Silent Vigil at the Altar of Repose. Find out more information here.
