Textile Conservation Lab
About The Lab
Download our Brochure
Founded in 1981 to conserve two sets of 17th-century tapestries gifted to the Cathedral, the Textile Conservation Laboratory was launched with support from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Kress Foundation, as well as the Getty Grant Program which helped support intensive work on the Barberini Life of Christ set. Today, grants and private gifts sustain work on the Cathedral’s collections, including The Acts of the Apostles, while the Lab also serves museums, collectors, and individuals. A robust internship program continues its commitment to training future conservators.
