COVID-19 Policies

The Cathedral has closely monitored the course of the COVID-19 pandemic since early 2020. The health and safety of our visitors, congregants, staff, and residents is a priority for all who work and worship here. As the numbers of infections and COVID cases across New York State, the country, and the world have fluctuated, and as new vaccines and boosters have been adopted by our community members, we have revised our COVID-19 protocols to clearly communicate the latest guidance we’ve received.

Although the Cathedral is no longer checking for proof of vaccination for COVID, all visitors to the Cathedral are strongly encouraged to be fully vaccinated. As of October 21, 2022, masks are no longer required inside by visitors inside the Cathedral.

  • Proof of vaccination is not required for admission.
  • For the safety of all visitors and the Cathedral’s staff and volunteers, the Cathedral encourages visitors to get vaccinated and boosted in accordance with CDC guidance.
  • In the Cathedral itself, masks are recommended but no longer mandatory for visitors, congregants, clergy, and employees.
  • Guests are encouraged to practice social distancing, maintaining 6 feet of space from others.
  • The Cathedral will continue to conduct heightened cleaning and sanitation.

An inherent risk of exposure to COVID exists in any public space where people are present. The Cathedral cannot guarantee that you will not be exposed to COVID-19 during your visit. Those visiting the Cathedral do so at their own risk of such exposure.

Please note that the Cathedral’s COVID policies remain subject to change as circumstances evolve. Up-to-date information will be posted here on our website if and when details change. These policies are informed by guidance and recommendations issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and other authoritative or controlling government-issued health standards.
