The Cathedral Choir and Orchestra perform a concert spanning from Vivaldi’s endearing Concerto in D Minor to the stirring a cappella Stabat Mater by Alissa Firsova. The rarely-performed 1947 version of Francis Poulenc’s Litanies to the Black Virgin, here orchestrated for strings and timpani, reflects a time of deep spiritual crisis in the composer’s life. You will hear the influence of Mozart in Brazilian composer José Maurício Nunes Garcia’s Requiem. Garcia, whose background reflected the multiracial heritage of his native Brazil, wrote this poignant work in 1816 on the death of the beloved Portuguese Queen, Maria I, and Garcia’s own mother.

This concert will also be available to watch via livestream. To purchase a livestream ticket, please click here. Please note that livestream tickets will not be accepted at the door for the in-person concert.
