As the nation absorbs and responds to the Presidential election, the Cathedral of St. John the Divine invites all who want a place to gather to come together at a vigil starting Wednesday, November 4, 2020 from 12 PM to 6 PM and continuing daily.

The Cathedral’s clergy and people from the broader Cathedral community will gather on the Cathedral’s front steps for a mostly silent vigil. Every hour, a passage from scripture or a collect from the Book of Common Prayer will be read. Click here to download a PDF of the texts.

Drawing upon Christ’s teachings and the legacy of the Episcopal Church, the Cathedral upholds its commitment to peace, unity, and calm in a world of chaos and division. In the presence of turmoil, the Cathedral stands with people of all backgrounds and beliefs as we wait for each and every vote to be counted.
