About the Orchestra
The Claremont Chamber Orchestra, named after Claremont Ave that spans the Morningside Heights neighborhood of New York City, is a volunteer summer orchestra established in 2018 by co-founders Alexandra Kapilian and Elliot Roman. The ensemble's mission is to provide the Morningside Heights community with access to classical music by presenting a diverse, challenging program to nursing homes, educational centers, and other venues in the area. Simultaneously, the orchestra grants advanced high school and college students as well as professional musicians in the New York area the opportunity to develop as performers during the summer months, when few ensembles are in session. The ensemble believes that all New Yorkers deserve equal access to artistic performances.
