In Their Own Words: Lutheran Social Services

MONDAY, OCTOBER 23, 2017
7 PM – 9 PM, CATHEDRAL HOUSE CONFERENCE ROOM

As unauthorized immigration has gone down in the last several years, one group that has seen an increase are “unaccompanied minors” – children who arrive in the United States fleeing economic and political violence in their native countries. Lutheran Social Services of New York, which serves this population, will talk to us about their work, bring us stories directly from some of these immigrants in their own words, and engage us around what we can do to help.

About the Series
In Their Own Words is a series born from the concept that ideas of justice and activism can sometimes make tangible humans an abstraction. At these events, we’ll hear directly from refugees, undocumented immigrants, formerly incarcerated persons, and those who have worked with them in order to learn about their experiences, the ways we can provide support, and to figure out the way all of our stories fit together.
