The Musical Legacy of Andrew Carnegie: a Transatlantic Celebration

At the invitation of Carnegie Corporation of New York and the Carnegie UK Trust, the Cathedral is delighted to be collaborating with Dunfermline Abbey, in Dunfermline, Scotland, on a two-concert miniseries that will spotlight Andrew Carnegie’s generous support of organ and choral music. Carnegie, who donated more than 7,600 pipe organs to churches in the United States and the United Kingdom, was also a patron of editions of English choral music of the Renaissance, late Romantic, and modern periods. The concert in Scotland took place on October 12, 2013. These two concerts—in Scotland and in the United States—will celebrate the astonishing power of Carnegie’s musical legacy.
