Choral Eucharist

11 AM – 12:30 PM, CATHEDRAL
The Reverend Canon Julia E. Whitworth

Our largest service, warm and elegantly formal. The repertoire of our professional Cathedral Choir, volunteer Chorale and Boy and Girl Choristers derives mostly from the classical tradition--mass settings and anthems as well as great hymns and spirituals. Communion is received in the round, after a sermon from the Cathedral Dean or Chapter members.

This Sunday's sermon is "Tired of Terror: Rejoice!"—
In a world in which political leaders trade on fear for power, John the Baptist reminds us that there is another, countercultural, way. His instructions: be kind, be generous, be fair, be just. This Advent, Jesus is coming to bring light to our world, and we are called to rejoice in the possibility of others: even strangers from a strange land. It’s Gaudete Sunday: do not be afraid!
