Children's Workshops

All families with children ages 4 years and up are invited to experience the Cathedral through guided explorations, creating works of art in our hands-on workshops, and making connections to their own lives while connecting with each other.

During school year, the Cathedral offers two Children’s Workshops, recommended for children 4–8 years old, exploring one of the many aspects of the Cathedral, seasonal happenings, or a current art exhibition. Families will learn about the Cathedral and work together to create artwork from a variety of different materials.

Throughout the year, children ages 7–12 years old are invited to see the Cathedral in new ways through Cathedral Explorers events. Participants are given a special, behind-the-scenes look at new areas of the Cathedral while learning about art and architecture.

The Cathedral also offers Medieval Birthday parties, where children sculpt gargoyles, weave, make brass rubbings, carve a block of limestone, and much more.

For more information and to make reservations, please contact the Public Education Office at education@stjohndivine.org or (212) 932-7347.

Free activities can be obtained at the Cathedral's Visitor Center for families to experience the Cathedral, its gardens, artwork, and resident creatures through self-guided explorations. The Cathedral is a proud partner of Cool Culture.

We look forward to welcoming you!
