Spirit of the City Gala
For the past thirty years, The Cathedral Church of Saint
John the Divine has honored one or more special New Yorkers
with its Spirit of the City Award recognizing individuals
who have made a difference to the City, enhancing its character
as a city of accomplishment, compassion and determination.
Past honorees include:
- Former Governor Mario Cuomo;
- Composer Marvin Hamlisch;
- Artist Robert Rauschenberg;
- Musician Wynton Marsalis;
- Philanthropist Susan Weber Soros;
- Former Federal Reserve Bank of New York President William
J. McDonough.
- Lewis and Jack Rudin
- Sanford and Joan Weill

Tables for 10 may be reserved at the
$50,000, $25,000, $15,000, $10,000 and $5,000 levels.
Individual tickets are available for
