The Job Readiness Program

The myriad of services that address poverty on a community level involve a lot of referral services and direct on-site counseling. These programs are staffed by the Case Manager, Intake Coordinator, and MSW interns.

Required for shelter residents and open to Crisis Center clients, CCC hosts a computer skills and job training program. CCC has partnered with Columbia University’s Community Impact to expand the number of classes available to community members. Classes are currently held three days a week in the afternoon during the summer months.  Community Impact’s JEEP program (Jobs and Education Empowerment Project) is providing the instructors, program curriculum and testing services.

Community Impact at Columbia University

Classes are 6 weeks in duration Monday-Thursday and are open to anyone in the community. Instruction in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Quickbooks is in 4-six week modules. Anyone interested in enrolling should contact the Community Impact Office at 212.854.9622 or pick up a flyer at the Crisis Center, Monday-Friday, 10 am-6 pm.
