MINI-ACT IN JULY AND AUGUST
3 1/2 to 5 1/2 years of age
The camper’s day is similar to a Preschool school experience with Day Camp flavor. Choice within a flexible structure best describes the program day. Children are carefully supervised at all times. Safety is our first priority. Teachers help each camper experiment and feel successful whether they are making a scarecrow on the porch, running an obstacle course on the playground, searching for worms in our gardens, building ant dams after a rain or creating a fruit market. Long lasting friendships, new games and songs, outdoor art and play in our own playground, planting in our vegetable garden, participating in camp carnival games, and following resident peacocks are just a few samples of what ACT campers experience.

The daily activity schedule includes sports, art, music, storytelling, dance, gardening and water play in our new water park. A visit to the “mist zone” is a welcome respite on hot summer days as campers travel to “big ACT” for special activities. Assemblies and camp-wide events bring all ACT camp divisions together. Weekly themes unite and flavor content to each activity period and event culminating during division assemblies and Theme Day.

Weekly plans are posted for parents. Mini-ACTers join one of three age groups, with qualified early childhood teachers and assistants eager to share their exciting plans. Under the direction of the division coordinator, staff make up the a team of three forming three unique age groups of eighteen campers.

K– SPORTS GROUPS: Age requirement: 5-6 years old and going into kindergarten in September

With preschool needs clearly in mind, A.C.T.ivities focus on athletic pursuits. Specialists aid campers to explore the skills and coordination needed to succeed in traditional sports such as soccer and T-ball. The traversing climbing wall increases confidence and mastery of body motion while exercise routines develop strength and endurance along with life long habits. Strategic play reinforced through cooperative games highlights the importance of team play, initially through pairing A.C.T.ivities and triple teams. Games played by campers are traditional but are modified to increase prA.C.T.ice time. Successful attempts rather than team outcomes are the primary focus. Traditional A.C.T.ivities such as rest-time, playground time, snack and lunch take place throughout the day
