1st grade-9th grade in September
July Day Campers offers five weeks of action-packed,
fun-filled experiences. Theme-based programming adds an extra dimension
to scheduled periods of swimming, sports, arts & crafts, nature,
clubs, performing arts and more. Our proven staff training and orientation
program supports and guides campers through their enriching day.
Counselors are mature graduate and undergraduate students, teachers
and camp professionals. Swim staff is Red Cross certified.
Younger day campers learn to prepare (hence
the word "Preps") for the many exciting challenges each
day brings. Whether it's reaching a consensus for a group choice
period, planning a birthday party, building clay pots or playing
croquet, they work as a group to enjoy the resources available at
the Cathedral.
Two trained and caring counselors and a counselor-in-training guide
eighteen campers through weeks of age-appropriate A.C.T.ivities,
taking full advantage of our beautiful campus. A carefully designed
weekly schedule which includes periods taught by specialists is
posted at our communications center. Counselors escort campers throughout
the day and assist specialists who are eager to share their talents
and spark interests.
Throughout the week Voyagers division have choices. In addition
to variable Theme Choice periods, counselors offer a variety of
club choice activities several times per week. Clubs expand campers'
choices and allow them to get to meet campers from other groups.
Campers can work on a variety of craft projects using fabrics and
ceramics, join a chess team, be part of a theater ensemble, join
team sports A.C.T.ivities, or harvest our garden. Special projects
can extend beyond a week or last long enough for campers to sample
a new idea or game like croquet, badminton, or sun printing.
As camper move into older groups input and choice in program activities
becomes a hallmark of the division. Special and optional activities
are:
3rd grade: Late night swim and dinner with friends. This optional
