Counselor-In-Training Program

Many C.I.T.'s have been A.C.T. campers although it is not a requirement. While a small stipend is provided, the C.I.T.'s position is a not a salaried position. It offers an excellent learning/training opportunity for young people interested in working with children and learning how to negotiate in a work environment with peers and adults. While parents can certainly encourage and support you in this pursuit, it must be something YOU want to do. As a C.I.T., you will work as hard as anyone else and sometimes even harder. By the end of the season you will have had experienced in a work environment, learned group management skills, received feedback and improved leadership skills. Besides the training and appreciation from children and staff, you will receive $50.00 per week for transportation money. In addition another small stipend may be available pending availability of a grant

Discuss the summer camp schedule with your parents. Camp opens June 30, 2008 and ends August 15. You must be available on Saturday, June 21 and the week of June 25th. You will be excused for mandatory school exams. Be sure you know whether you can work the first five weeks or all seven weeks prior to submitting your application. Parents will be required to sign a permission slip. C.I.T.' are required to complete a special application available on our website www.actprograms.org. Return that form to our office. We will contact you for an appointment or send you a note if further action is required. Go to our home page for CIT information and packet or click here, C.I.T. application.
