Many C.I.T.'s have been A.C.T. campers although it is not
a requirement. While a small stipend is provided, the C.I.T.'s
position is a not a salaried position. It offers an excellent
learning/training opportunity for young people interested
in working with children and learning how to negotiate in
a work environment with peers and adults. While parents can
certainly encourage and support you in this pursuit, it must
be something YOU want to do. As a C.I.T., you will work as
hard as anyone else and sometimes even harder. By the end
of the season you will have had experienced in a work environment,
learned group management skills, received feedback and improved
leadership skills. Besides the training and appreciation from
children and staff, you will receive $50.00 per week for transportation
money. In addition another small stipend may be available
pending availability of a grant
Discuss the summer camp schedule with your parents. Camp
opens June 30, 2008 and ends August 15. You must be available
on Saturday, June 21 and the week of June 25th. You will be
excused for mandatory school exams. Be sure you know whether
you can work the first five weeks or all seven weeks prior
to submitting your application. Parents will be required to
sign a permission slip. C.I.T.' are required to complete a
special application available on our website www.actprograms.org.
