Working Theater and Magnum Foundation, in partnership with the Cathedral,
invite you for an evening of speakers, snacks, refreshments and art.
La Ruta is a play that follows the fates of several undocumented immigrants and their smugglers en route from the Mexican border into the United States.
The audience is immersed in the world of the play as they find themselves experiencing the journey alongside the characters within an actual 48’ semi-tractor trailer truck.
Through La Ruta, Working Theater and Magnum Foundation hope to raise awareness about the plight of undocumented immigrants and challenge our diverse communities to consider the experience of this large, yet too often ignored, immigrant constituency.
This Community Outreach Event will introduce people to this exciting project and foster discussion around local immigration issues and the ways the project’s impact can be maximized in the Upper Manhattan community.
Representatives from both Working Theater and Magnum Foundation will be on hand to discuss the artistic process of creating La Ruta and their educational objectives.
La Ruta will run at the Cathedral from April 15 - 21.
