The incomparable Nancianne Parrella, Associate Organist of the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola, will bring her signature Organ Plus! series to the Cathedral, demonstrating the versatility of the organ with various combinations of instruments. Featuring Jorge Ávila, violin, Victoria Drake, harp, and Arthur Fiacco, cello.

Raymond Nagem, Assistant Organist of the Cathedral and C.V. Starr Doctoral Fellow at the Juilliard School, will perform Romantic masterpieces by Maurice Duruflé, Sigfrid Karg-Elert, Felix Mendelssohn and Herbert Howells, as well as Mr. Nagem’s own Variations on a Villancico, composed in 2012.

Director of Music Kent Tritle will perform a recital celebrating the French grandeur of the Great Organ. Tritle will record this program on the Pro Organo label. Charles-Marie Widor, Symphonie VI Marcel Dupré, Magnificat Antiphons.

The Cathedral welcomes back internationally-acclaimed French organist, improvisor, and composer Thierry Escaich, who helped rededicate the newly-restored Great Organ on the 2009–2010 “Great Organ: Great Artists” series, portions of which can be heard on the CD/DVD release From Ashes to Glory (Pro Organo label). This concert is generously underwritten by Bruce Westcott.

Acclaimed composer, crossover artist and recording artist John Zorn will perform and improvise on the Great Organ in a one-of-a-kind musical event. Zorn’s organ improvisations are breathtakingly beautiful—a perfect outlet for the composer’s dramatic sense of color and contrast.
