Enter the Conversation: The Right Reverend Gene Robinson

Monday, September 17, 7 pm
On September 17, the Cathedral will host the Right Reverend Gene Robinson in conversation with the Very Reverend Dr. James. A. Kowalski. Bishop Robinson is the Episcopal Church’s first openly gay bishop, the religious leader chosen to give the invocation at President Obama’s inaugural ceremonies, and author of the forthcoming book God Believes in Love: Straight Talk about Gay Marriage (Knopf, 2012), as well as
a 2008 book, In the Eye of the Storm: Swept to the Center by God, about his life and struggle.
As a tireless worker for civil rights, Bishop Robinson has helped shaped the discourse around gay marriage, the destigmatization of transgendered people in Church life and ministry, and the need for freedom to love to be recognized as a basic human right.
The Bishop is the subject of the 2012 documentary Love Free or Die by Macky Alston and Sandy Itkoff, which will be screened at the Cathedral at 1 pm on Sunday, September 16, and at 5:30 pm on Monday, September 17 in Cathedral House, and all day in the Sports Bay inside the Cathedral.
